For healthcare professionals

Théa’s head offices at the Keele University Science and Innovation Park in Staffordshire hosted an advanced surgical skills session focusing on Glaucoma. Specific procedures included Trabeculectomy surgery and Baerveldt Tube Insertion.

Expert trainers, Professor Ejaz Ansari, Mr Rajen Tailor and Mr Lynval Jones lead the group of trainee surgeons through a stepwise approach to safe surgical procedures. Specifically covering suturing techniques and focusing on potential complications and methods of managing, and importantly preventing, them.

This dry lab session provided the YOP’s with the chance to practice their technique on the latest innovations in synthetic eyes, specifically designed for the procedures practiced upon them.

Trainers including Mr Lynval Jones provided custom videos of real cases to supplement their demonstrations under the microscope.

The Surgical Skills sessions are an educational initiative that is extremely important to us here at Théa. We have a full programme of these courses planned for 2019, for more information and to see our other upcoming educational initiatives please visit our education page.
