Frequency of Dry Eye Flare

The majority3 of Dry Eye patients experience episodic flares of their condition, rather than a continuous pattern of symptoms5, with an overall worsening of symptoms over time.

Episodic symptoms can be triggered by a variety of external factors such as windy or dry environments, contact lens use, autoimmune disease, toxic medications and preservatives, allergens, cataract / refractive surgery or lid margin disease6.

Most DED patients with or without maintenance DED therapy experience a flare-up 5–6 times per year7, with 76–79% stating they experience 'at least one per year'7.
